**New cancellation policy**

As of July 1, 2012, we will now need to keep a credit card number on file when booking an initial consultation.  The patient’s card will not be charged until the time of the consultation.  However, patients will be charged a $50 cancellation fee for “no show” appointments and for appointments cancelled without a 24-hour advance notice.  As a courtesy, we will make reminder calls to the patient 1-2 days before their scheduled appointment.  However, it is the patient’s responsibility to keep his/her appointment whether or not a reminder call is received.

Your consultation

Upon your arrival at the Center for Aesthetic Modernism, you will meet with both Dr. Harris and his patient coordinator. You and Dr. Harris will discuss your desired results, the aging face, and any of your concerns regarding facial rejuvenation. Based on your initial consultation, facial analysis, and genetic testing (if applicable), Dr. Harris will recommend a treatment plan that integrates your home skincare regiment, our in office treatments, and any possible surgical procedures. Our goal is to provide a completely individualized treatment plan perfectly in tune to your needs. To complete your consultation, we will provide information on financing options and next steps.

If you are from out of town, we will work with you to start your consultation before you travel. Please send a description of yourself and your concerns to [email protected]. It is very important that you include photos (including a front view, profile view both left and right, and a base view of your face).

At the Center for Aesthetic Modernism, we offer state-of-the-art technology, clinical expertise and culturally sensitive care while addressing your facial rejuvenation concerns. The consultation is meant to provide you with all pertinent information so you may make an informed and comfortable decision.

Frequently asked questions

What can I expect during the consultation process?

Every patient is scheduled for a private, personalized and thorough consultation as the initial step in his or her investigation of cosmetic surgery procedures or services. This initial consultation is your opportunity to personally meet Dr. Harris while getting a feel for our office. You will create a relationship with Dr. Harris and his staff and gain an appreciation for your comfort level with the procedures. With the assistance of the Patient Care Coordinator, you will investigate the procedure, see results of other patients who have undergone the same or similar procedures in our before-and- after albums, and discuss any initial questions you may have. The consultation provides an opportunity to explore your options and discuss your procedure in detail.

If applicable during your consultation or your pre-operative appointment, you will undergo an innovative 3-D facial analysis using computerized digital imaging. Dr. Harris will thoroughly discuss both external enhancements and internal structural corrections that will result from the procedures that are right for you.

We strive to ensure that you are fully educated on the procedures you choose to undergo, and that your expectations are in line with the results you can expect to achieve. We believe a well-informed patient is a satisfied patient.

We encourage you to ask questions during your consultation to make certain that both you and Dr. Harris will be confident of your final decision.

Remember, this is an investment in you and you deserve the best. Thank you for allowing Dr. Monte O. Harris and the Center for Aesthetic Modernism to be a part of your aesthetic experience.

Plastic Surgery Basics

Why is it important to choose a surgeon who is board certified?

Board certification ensures that the surgeon has completed extensive, specialized training and has completed their respective board examinations of their specialty. Dr. Harris specializes in facial plastic surgery and is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

When do you need a Facial Plastic Surgeon?

Facial plastic surgeons have a focused expertise of performing surgery on the face, head, and neck only. Seeing a facial plastic surgeon instead of a general plastic surgeon ensures that you will have an optimal result with someone who specializes in the area you want to improve. Facial plastic surgeons undergo additional training after completing their general surgery residency.

Depending on what your specific concerns are, it is also important to see a facial plastic surgeon that will be honest with you regarding your potential outcome. Every face is different and it is important to understand that surgery may or may not be appropriate. Dr. Harris will also discuss with you if you are an appropriate candidate for the procedures you are requesting and he will walk you through what you can do at home to enhance certain facial features.

Surgical Procedure

What is the cost of the procedure(s)?

The cost of surgery depends on what procedure(s) is to be performed and is determined after your initial consultation. Pricing varies between procedures and surgery time. We do not give quotes for any procedures before you are evaluated by Dr. Harris.

Where will my surgery be performed?

Hair transplant, eyebrow transplant and earlobe repair surgeries are performed in office. All other facial surgical procedures are performed at the Chevy Chase Surgery Center. The surgery center is located in the same building as our office.

What kind of anesthesia does Dr. Harris use for his surgical procedures?

Surgical procedures performed at the Chevy Chase Surgery Center are under general anesthesia.

What is the recovery period?

Recovery time varies based on the procedure performed and the patient. A typical recovery time ranges from 7-14 days following a surgical procedure. Injectable fillers require little to no recovery time and Botox requires no recover time at all.

How much bruising and swelling will occur?

The amount of swelling and bruising truly depends on the individual. Certain procedures may have a higher risk of swelling and bruising, but Dr. Harris takes extra precaution and uses techniques to minimize both swelling and bruising as much as possible. After rhinoplasty (nose surgery), swelling will come down significantly in the first 10-14 days, yet residual swelling will continue to come down over the year following surgery.
