Face and Culture

Every culture has its own definition of beauty. At the Center for Aesthetic Modernism, we understand that our patients want to look their best and stay connected to their roots and heritage. Having an appreciation of culture and personality characteristics facilitates the communication between Dr. Harris and his patients. The sharing of information runs both ways: each patient outlines his or her aesthetic goals, while Dr. Harris educates each patient on his recommendations and treatments. Together, we can create an aesthetic plan based on what’s appropriate to enhance a harmonious, balanced look that fits you.

Facial Contouring Procedures

Your face is the first thing people notice about you. When age begins to catch up with us, all too often our appearance doesn’t reflect how we feel on the inside. The Advanced Facial Aesthetic concept envisioned by facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Monte O. Harris, focuses on restoring a youthful, refreshed appearance through minimally invasive plastic surgery. This approach is ideal for patients looking for an alternative to the traditional facelift and a more natural facial rejuvenation with a brief recovery period. Preferred surgical procedures include blepharoplasty, facial fat transfer, and neck liposuction. These operations can be performed together for total rejuvenation or as separate smaller procedures. All of the procedures can be performed in an outpatient surgical setting and in some cases with just local anesthesia alone.

The Aging Process - A Volume Focus

As we age, much of the youthful fullness in the face is lost or redistributed.  Cosmetic Physicians now realize facial sagging is not only due to gravity, but also due to volume changes.  Rejuvenating procedures are now not only focusing on tightening, but also on restoring youthful facial contours.  The first telltale signs of aging are frequently localized to the area around the eyes and cheeks.  We have all personally experienced how “tired eyes” can add years to your appearance.  Changes around the eyes such as droopy brows, hooding of skin over the upper eyelid, hollowing beneath the eyes, and under eye bags all contribute to an aged appearance.  Full cheeks and high cheekbones are classic signs of a youthful face.  With midface aging, the cheek pad diminishes in size, moves downward and accumulates along the skin fold separating the mouth from the cheek.  This change in cheek position and loss of fullness makes our face look older, sunken and gaunt.  As the aging process continues, changes in the areas of the chin, jawline, and neck also become evident.  Surprisingly, many of the early signs of facial aging can be reversed through the creative combination of smaller targeted facial contouring procedures focusing on replacing the volume that gives us a youthful look.
